Maria Kalafati was born in Patras city, Greece. She holds her Bachelor (2018) in Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics from the University of Thessaly, Greece, and she has graduated from the Postgraduate Program entitled “Biomedical Engineering” of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Patras, Greece. Since July 2020, she has been working in the department of Biomedical technology at the Olympion General Clinic of Patras.
She has presented her thesis entitled “Digital Flowmeters for Medical Applications", in which she received an excellent grade (10). She has presented her master thesis on the monitoring of Parkinson's disease by designing, developing and evaluating an original application for Android smartphones and tablets using a pressure pen, which collects quantitative and objective information from the samples of patients with PD, thus allowing clinicians and especially neurologists to better understand the severity of the disease in a patient and make more objective decisions.
